First Grade and Pre-K

A little behind on this one. The first day of school went as expected. Perfectly smooth, thankfully! Cole is so excited to be a First Grader. A lot of his friends from Kinder have landed in his class. There are 3 First Grade classes, so I guess the odds weren't against him.
Reid started Pre-K and he feels like a big big big boy. He wants to be so much like his big brother.
We feel so thankful for these 2 little boys. Thankful that they are thriving so well.  They are becoming more and more entertaining every day. I can't wait to see what new things they will learn this year. It makes me so sad and so happy all at the same time.

"Mommy, you know how I feel about pictures." were his words right before I took this...
Walking his big brother in to 1st grade.
I still love watching him walk with his back pack!

"Can we make a deal Mommy? Only2 more pictures and then we are done, ok?"
Mrs. Linda Courtney. She seems so sweet! Can't wait for us to get to know her.
My friend Lacey gave me this gift idea for the Teachers. "Looking forward to a sweet year" and a cup filled with sweet stuff. For the teachers this year, I added chocolate. My poor son has my penmanship skills. :( Hopefully this will improve this year.
My baby's first day of Pre-K.

"Lets do this!"

I'm not sure if it's obvious but he is limping. It is to me, even though it's a picture. This morning, he sent Cole to get us so that we could get him from upstairs.  When we got there, he was laying in his bunk saying he couldn't move his legs.  He hurt his leg playing baseball with his brother.  We don't see a bruise or swelling so we think he will survive. ;-)

For my family and friends that aren't on Facebook. This is the picture I posted this morning. :)
We wish everyone in school a wonderful year! We are leaving for Boerne, Tx today to visit Mike, Tara and the boys for the long Labor Day weekend. We can't wait to see their new home and explore their new city. :)

Graduated from Cool Cuts

Right after school yesterday, I took Cole to get a haircut at Sports Clips.  He was excited because the entire place is sports related. The TV's only show sports. Perfect for a kid that prefers ESPN over cartoons. Then................ they washed his hair, gave him a mini shoulder massage and he got a hot towel on his face. He is HOOKED. He didn't say much of anything while we were there, but when we walked out, he said "MOMMY, THAT HOT TOWEL WAS AWESOME. WHEN SHE STARTED SPRAYING MY HAIR, IT FELT SOOOO GOOD". He couldn't stop talking about it.  I guess our babies have graduated from Cool Cuts. :)

I spent the day with my Reido today. We rode bikes to the park and had a picnic.
I love this stinky, sweaty boy!

Galveston. Oh Galveston.

We made our annual Galveston trip with the Simmons' and the Knott's 2 weekends before school started. The water may be muddy, the sand may be brown but it doesn't stop us from having a fantastically fun time! The kids play non-stop. They swim, run and stay up too late watching movies. We went Crab Hunting and the kids really enjoyed that!  This is how I ended up with a crab claw in my washing machine, causing it to smell like a fish market. Couldn't believe how one little claw could cause that much of a stink! I hope we continue to take this annual trip until we are old and gray.  As I added some of the pictures to this blog, I realized that we probably need to take at least 1 picture of the 12 of us together.  :)

Addi 6, Rylee 6, Parker 3, Cooper 4, Cole 6, Reid 4.

My old old soul. He had no idea we were watching him admire the ocean.

Parker turned 3 at the beach. He is such a sweet, smiley, BIG boy now.

Rylee Miss Dancer. So confident with dancing. She gave us a show all by herself one day. :)

Sweet Addi. I swear she must have done over a thousand cartwheels on the beach. She is going to be a great gymnast like her Mommy! :)

Cooper man! This boy is so funny and full of life!

We were lucky that we found a beach that was cleaned daily. Otherwise, I'm not sure that we would have been able to go to the beach. The Red Tide killed so many fish and one of the areas we went to was covered in dead fish.  So many that there wasn't a space to step in between the fish. I found this lonely one in the beach we were at...

They are BEST BUDS. I really enjoyed watching them play and talk. They talked so much. Who knows about what though? What could possibly keep two 4 year olds in constant conversation?

My silly yet SWEET boy.  He wore all those bracelets all summer long.

This has to be my favorite pic of the 6 of them.

At dusk across our beach house, heading for a Crab Hunt.

Crab hunters.

Nipples or Pecs?

The 4 of us were watching the Olympics. When the guys swimming started, Cole said "WOW. HE HAS HUGE NIPPLES!" After Joe and I gained our composure, we explained that those were called pecs for pectoral muscles. We added, that they get big when you exercise and eat healthy (I throw the "eat healthy" part in there, any chance I get).  It seemed as though he got it and didn't mention it again.  Until the next day. We were snuggling and he said "Mommy, you have big pecs too."
I hope the funny comments never go away! :)

Weekend in Houston

My mom. The most beautiful woman I know. Mami, I hope you have a Happy Birthday! I wish I could spend the day with you.  :)
I hope we never live so far away that I can't see her on her birthday. Although I  won't get to see her today, at least we were able to celebrate last weekend.

Reid asked me to buy "some balloons for Mama." First he said "lets get pink". After a minute of thinking about it, he said "No, wait!! Mama doesn't like pink. Lets get different colors".

My Mami! :)

Joe was down in Houston most of the week for work, so I took Friday off and drove down with the boys. [Side note: I heard "Mommy" and "Are we almost to Houston?" approximately 1000 times each. I'm not kidding either.] My mom and dad surprised the boys and took us to the Circus on Friday night. We sat on the 4th row on the floor. What a difference, that made! We attended a couple of years ago (sat in regular seats) and we were not able to appreciate it near as much as we did on Friday. It felt like we were part of the show and the kids really enjoyed it.

With Meliiiissa before the show.

Yes, this boy can make you laugh like that... And yes, I spray painted their hair for the circus. :)

Saturday morning, we woke up early and visited Granny and Papa John. It was so nice to see them. We had a yummy breakfast while we enjoyed our time catching up. We don't miss Houston at all, but we do miss our family and friends.

Love this one!

My dad and Joe took Cole golfing while I went shopping with my mom and Reid. Later, we celebrated at our favorite Peruvian restaurant downtown. It was such a great weekend!
